Song of the Day: The Twees “Temperamental Health”

Posted on May 24, 2012

Hey, someone wrote a song about my lung-wrecking cough.

The past couple of days have been a bit shite, and it doesn’t help that I’ve been wheezing like a smoking addict. Disease and Pollution, get thee from my lungs.

Still, a head full of wool is best cured with strong, simple tunes and awesome guitar riffs, like the long one in this fantastic head-bobbing track that cuts through my hazy brain like a good, healthful dose of home-brewed medicine. I also love that their vocals sound raw and “unworked”, and the surf band content of many of their songs.

The Twees are a Long Island lo-fi/ garage rock band and “Temperamental Health”, available for download on their webby, is their latest release. Most of their other tracks are rollicking good fun, too. Officially A Yuppie got to interview them, and this line from singer and guitarist Jason Abrishami cracked me up: “[Our music] doesn’t really get too hard or heavy so a parent wouldn’t mind it either when their kids asks to put the CD on in the car.”

Smart boys, they know where the money’s at.

To listen/ download more of their punchy, dancey, snare-drummed tracks, GimmeSound has the goods.
